FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Financial Management: Provides financial planning throughout the Metro Public
Health Department by delivering management information, consulting and
implementation services.
- Budget preparation and monitoring
- Coordination of approximately 40 state, federal, foundation grants and
contracts for the department. Providing monthly expenditure reports and
invoices.
- Accepts revenue from grants, fees, fines, and patient services
- Preparation of payroll and distribution of checks
- Prepares requisitions for purchase, departmental vouchers; processes purchase
orders, and maintains records on expenditures for all divisions in the Health
Department.
- Vendor Registration and payment of invoices
- Patient and insurance company billing for services rendered for patients
- Fixed asset inventory, employee assigned equipment and operational forms
- Central Shipping, Receiving and Mail distribution

FY2008 Metro Public Health Department Funding Structure
Funding for the Department’s activities come from a variety of sources. For the
FY2008 budget approximately 32% is received from Federal, State and Foundation
Grants, 10% from fees for services and the remaining 58% is supported by an
appropriation of funds from the General Fund which is mostly funded by property
taxes and the various other Metro Government taxes and fees.
